1. What should I wear?
Every style of dress can be seen at our Sunday morning Worship Service. Some of our men still will wear a coat and tie, and some women will wear a dress, while in the same service other men will wear casual shirts and women will wear slacks or even jeans. Youth will wear anything from "dressy-casual" to tee shirts and jeans. Our desire is for you to wear whatever you are most comfortable in wearing to a worship service.
2. What are your hours for Sunday Morning Worship?
It begins at 10:45 a.m. and ends by 12 noon. So about an hour and 15 minutes is normal.
3. What style of Worship do you use?
Most would probably see us as a traditional Baptist church with some elements of "contemporary". This means our congregational hymns are traditional but our choruses, special music, and projection systems would be viewed as more modern.
4. Where would my kids be during the service?
That would be your choice; but we do have a department with specially designed rooms for your preschool children and a "Children's Church" for children in 1st through 6th grades. Our ushers will be happy to direct you to these rooms if that is your desire; however if your children prefer to stay with you during the service that is completely agreeable with us.
5. How do I find your "preschool" area and/or "Children's Church? When you enter our parking lot you will see the main sanctuary building on your left and the Christian Life Center in front of you. The nursery or preschool department is in the Christian Life Center and it is clearly marked. The Children's church is in the upstairs of the main Sanctuary Building. By "main sanctuary building" we mean the one with the large cross on top.
6. As a first time visitor will I have to sign up, sign in, or donate to anything?
The quick answer is no. The only exception to this is a visitor's information slip which will be located on the inside of the bulletin you will receive when you in the Worship Center. On it you can put your name, address and that type of information; then place it in the offering plate later on in the service. As far as a donation; we won't turn it down, but we never try to make anyone feel obligated to do so.
7. Why are you called "Fulton Road Baptist Church" when you are located on Dauphin Island Parkway?
Simply, when this church was founded the name of the street was Fulton Road. The name of the street changed later on but we haven't done so yet.
8. What is the general age group of your congregation?
Thankfully we are a good blend of all age groups. We are about 1/3 over the age of 60, 1/3 between 30 and 60, and 1/3 children, youth, and young adults.
