“Summer Showers”

We seem to be experiencing “Summer Showers” early this year.  It showers somewhere almost everyday.  Some showers are heavier than others.  Today, I was in a heavy shower.

            These “Summer Showers” got me to thinking about how God can and wants to shower us with blessings.  I don’t know about you, but I am really interested in those.  I need all the blessings and favor that God is willing to send my way.  There is a hymn in the Baptist Hymnal entitled, “There Shall Be Showers of Blessing”.  The words are so encouraging.  Let them minister to your soul.

                  1.  There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love;

                       There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above.

                  2.  There shall be showers of blessing, Precious reviving again;

                       Over the hills and the valleys, Sound of abundance of rain.

                  3.  There shall be showers of blessing: Send them upon us, O Lord;

                        Grant to us now a refreshing, Come, and now honor Thy word.

                  4.  There shall be showers of blessing: Oh, that today they might fall

                       Now as to God we’re confessing, Now as on Jesus we call!

                  CHORUS: Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need:

                                    Mercy-drops round us are falling,

                                    But for the showers we plead.

            We will experience many more “Summer Showers” this season.  I hope that each one will remind you of the “Spiritual Showers” that God wants to bestow on you.  God is such a great God!  God is such a generous God!  He has all things at His disposal.  He created all things and all things belong to Him.

            I know that each of us have storms in our lives that sometimes cause us to fear.  But God can see us through life’s storms by giving us the “Spiritual Showers” we need.  We must, however, follow His Word which says “But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” (Mt. 6:33 NASB)  As we follow God’s guide for our lives, expect His “Spiritual Showers”.  They are so refreshing!!!
